Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024In the year 1970 Stevie Wonder left MoTown and recorded two independent albums by himself. Berry Gordy was stunned to discover that this was the case with Stevie Wonder. Berry Gordy accepted Stevie Wonder's request for greater autonomy, full creative control and the rights to all of his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollars MoTown Records contract in 1972. Stevie Wonder received a higher rate of royalty and had full creative control. Also, he had the right to compose his own music, something that very few artists could get at the time. The contract allowed Wonder's songs and videos to discuss controversial topics such as drug abuse, war and poverty. The first album that he released under his new contract with MoTown was Music Of My Mind in 1972. Talking Book, Stevie Wonder's 1972 album, was a milestone in the history of rock music. It included Superstition as the number one track.
